Education Research and Development Group
Programme Lead: Dr Annetta Smith
In the Department of Nursing and Midwifery we consider that nursing and midwifery education sits at the core of our scholarly activity.
The education research and development group is a collaboration of academic and clinical partners which aims to generate leading research in nursing and midwifery education. The group will encourage and support critical debate about the quality, purpose, and methods used in professional education and will contribute to academic and practice learning, through promotion and dissemination of education research.
Aims:
- Provide the basis for building on the research and scholarship interests of staff around the education of nurses, midwives and allied health professions (NMAHP)
- Provide a forum that supports ‘blue sky’ thinking and development of innovative teaching and learning around NMAHP education delivery
- Contribute to the development of the evidence base that advances knowledge about education practice, and informs and improves education practice
- Use a range of diverse research methodologies including evaluation and action research approaches
- Support post-graduate studentships who are interested in education research
