RAE 2008 Result:  Recognition of world-class research

The Department of Nursing and Midwifery has been ranked 1st in Scotland and 9th in the whole of the UK.

It is now being rated as the leading department for research and education of nurses and midwives in Scotland.

Professor William Lauder, Head of Department commented: “This is an enormous achievement based on significant growth since the 2001 RAE results, and establishes the department as a major force in Scottish and UK nursing and midwifery research."

The Department carries out research across all three campuses with the aim of improving patient and carer health and wellbeing, and an emphasis on applied and clinically-based research.
