A thriving research culture and postgraduate possibilities make the Department of Nursing and Midwifery a very exciting environment for students and is influential in the advancing the health care of the Scottish population and beyond.

Postgraduate students can choose from taught programmes or PhD studies that reflect these aspirations.

The Department of Nursing and Midwifery offers a range of postgraduate opportunities which reflect the Department’s areas of research focus. These include:

• Understanding Patient and Family Experiences
• Participation and Decision Making and
• Enhancing Self Care and Self Management.

Additionally the research centres affiliated with the Department are involved in research activity which support post graduate research activity. The research centres are the Alliance for Self Care Research, HealthQWest, Nursing, Midwifery & Allied Health Professions Research Unit and the Cancer Care Research Centre.
