Deborah Douglas, Mental Health Nursing student, Stirling Campus

Nursing education at the University of Stirling is now well established on three campus sites. Students may wish to take advantage of the excellent campus based facilities offered in Stirling, or alternatively choose to study in our new purpose built facility in Inverness, capital of the Highlands, one of fastest growing cities in Europe. The Stornoway campus offers a more intimate setting for those seeking to study in a more peaceful setting, with students able to complete their studies whilst enjoying the tranquillity, beauty and culture of the Western Isles.

Television programmes such as Holby City have raised the profile of nursing in recent years but today’s midwives and nurses, whether they be an adult, mental health or a learning disabilities nurse, will practice in a wider setting than that of a hospital. Nursing in the 21st century involves working in a partnership with people to help them identify and to meet their health needs, whether in hospital, in local clinics or in the patients own homes.

The University of Stirling gives students the opportunity to plan their future by preparing for their preferred career on the campus of their choice, to gain a valued academic qualification plus professional registration allowing them to practice nursing.
